We are a privately run, non-profit, no-kill dog rescue facility located on five acres of land in Boiling Spring Lakes. We were founded in 1999 by Nancy Janovetz. We offer refuge to the abused, neglected and abandoned dogs in our community. We are also a retirement facility for those that, for one reason or another, do not find that special home. Most of all, we are dedicated to finding dogs a loving home, no matter how long it takes—one life at a time.
All available dogs are listed on our website. We hold “Meet and Greets” every Saturday. Please check our website for times and locations. Be sure to “like” us on Facebook and follow us for events and happenings. Our kennel is open to the public every day from 9 a.m. until noon.

My name is BELLA (Adopt-an-Angel) and I am a wonderful cat. I am calm and low key, and a little shy until I gain confidence in my new home. I am playful, but don’t demand to play. I like to be petted and to cuddle, but I don’t demand your attention. I like to spend much of my day in a comfortable spot looking out the window, especially on nice days when there are birds and lizards and bugs to watch. For a while there was another cat in my foster home. He thought that we should play and roughhouse together. I was really happy when he found his forever family. Although I would rather be an only cat, I do OK with well behaved dogs. It took me about 2 weeks to get comfortable being around the two big dogs who live in my foster home. Now I am pretty sure I am the boss of them.

I was given the name VALENTINE (Paws Place) because a kind lady found me frightened all alone by the railroad tracks on Valentine’s Day last year and she brought me to Paws Place. As you can see, I’m a beautiful hound mix and also very playful. I’m up to date on shots and on heartworm prevention. I really like when I go to Meet & Greets. I get to meet all kinds of people and learn all kinds of new things that I have not experienced before. I get along with most dogs, so if you already have a four-legged family member, I’d like the chance to see how we would do together. Do you have room in your heart for sweet “Valentine?”

Hi there, my name is CINNAMON (R.A.C.E.), and I am a 7-year-old red Dachshund. I will require a quiet home as I get nervous if it is loud and crazy. I am very loving but I need to be introduced slowly. Once we are friends I will be the perfect companion! I do fine with other dogs. I am completely vetted and ready for my new home.

I was scared, lonely and hungry, and I found refuge under a car to be protected from the rain. I am so grateful to the couple who recognized that I needed help and took care of me until they could get me to Paws Place. They called me CODY and since then I have put on a few pounds and have been to the vet. Nothing wrong with me that a little TLC and time won’t heal. I’m a gentle soul who loves people and other dogs. Sure would like to have the chance to be loved by a family!

Happy New Year! I’m LYLA (SOAR). And if you are looking for a great way to start the year—well, you’re looking at her! I’m super smart and super sweet and really a pretty girl, if I do say so myself. That’s why I’m surprised that after four years at SOAR (I came here as a puppy), no one has taken me home! But I can be patient. I would rather wait and have the right person than just go home with anybody. I’m a boxer mix and I get along well with other dogs and really don’t mind cats. I do have lots of energy, so a fenced in yard would be awesome. I promise I will make it worth your while if you just take me home!

Hi! My name is SCOOTER (R.A.C.E.) and I am a happy-go-lucky Chihuahua/terrier mix. I am 6 to 9 months, nine pounds, and full of energy. I would love a home with another dog as I really love to play. I am unique because my coat is blue merle which makes me one of a kind! I am crate trained, potty trained and completely vetted.

Hi! Handsome? Me? Well, I must agree! My name is TAZ (AKA Tom Selleck) and I am about 8 years old. Awesome is a great way to describe me, but there is one tiny detail! I have FeLv or Feline Leukemia. But don’t let that stop you from taking me home! It cannot be transferred to humans or dogs—only to other cats—so I need to be the only cat in the house, and I must be kept indoors! I can live a long, full life, as long as I have a stress-free environment and, of course, lots of love! I am so lucky that I have a place like SOAR to live. Did you know that they are the only rescue in NC that is able to house cats/kittens with feline FeLV and FIV? Way to go SOAR!
