An artful craze sprung up in the past few years: painting classes mixed with drinks! From Wine and Design in Wilmington to Pescado Y Amor‘s local Paint and Pour classes, folks can learn from painting masters how to create their own works of art while sipping their beverage of choice. The art classes are always a predetermined painting, such as a lighthouse or flowers, but often the businesses will offer “paint your own pet” nights wherein the artist will create a template of the pet in advance for the guest to fill in.

In Southport, Four Legs Good Pet Boutique and Howe Outrageous Art Gallery are teaming up to put their own twist on pet portraits, all in an effort to help shelter animals in our area.

On Wednesday, October 30th, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Howe Outrageous will host an Adopt-A-Pet portrait painting class where participants can paint a shelter cat or dog. The “purrfect” works of art and a recommended donation of $35 will go to support Brunswick County Animal Protective Services. Complimentary refreshments will be served as well. Reservations are required and can by made by calling (910) 363-4811.
