Southport Magazine

A note from Kris:

I am excited to announce that I have sold Southport and Leland Magazines to Jeff and Lisa Stites.

Jeff and Lisa have been writing for the magazines since 2014. Both have Journalism degrees. Lisa previously worked at the State Port Pilot for six years while Jeff has had a career in sales in Brunswick County for more than 20 years. They’ve lived on Oak Island for 25 years and understand the heart of the magazines. I will be on hand as a consultant to ensure a smooth transition.

Many of you know that my husband, Alan, and my father both battled cancer last year and it was really hard for me to remain focused on the papers. So just as cancer was the catalyst in me starting Southport Magazine, it is the reason I decided to sell.

The past eight years have been such a wonderful gift. I was able to start a business, run a business, grow a business and earn a living. And now I am able to complete the circle by selling my business. The American dream realized!

However, none of this would have been possible without the support of this community. I cannot tell you how much I have enjoyed working for you and promoting all the great things our little paradise offers.

I know that Jeff and Lisa will continue my vision and take Southport Magazine and Leland Magazine to the next level. And be on the lookout for another big announcement in 2020!

Jeff will be running the magazines, and Lisa will continue her job as Town Clerk of Oak Island. I hope you will support them as you have supported me. 

With a heavy heart and a big hug, I will miss you but you will see me soon as a customer!
