Honoring One Of Our Areas Fallen Heroes

On Saturday September 24th at Spring Lake Park in Boiling Springs there will be a “Battle of the Bands” from our area. These battles can be very exciting and competitive as local bands come together to play their best tunes in the attempt to win the title of “Best Band”.

This title can be very helpful to a band of musicians trying to make it to the status of a working band; able to do live gigs at local venues for money. The fact that they can advertise winning a Battle of the Bands helps them get the opportunity to play other gigs and make money. Obviously winning some cash in the battle also helps that band purchase equipment needed to get started as a working band or to improve on equipment that they currently have. It all helps a musician who is trying to reach the personal goal of being part of a working band. A “Battle of the Bands” can be very beneficial.

There are other ways this kind of event can be helpful. The Boiling Spring Lakes Battle of the Bands also benefits a scholarship fund set up in the name of one of our fallen heroes, Mr. Mitch Prince. Mitch lost his life in the line of duty as a Boiling Spring Lakes Police Officer in 2005. As a memorial to Mitch, a scholarship fund was set up to benefit local students that need financial support to continue their education. All proceeds from this event will benefit the Mitch Prince Law Enforcement Scholarship. It is a great way to honor Officer Prince and for the community to remember Mitch, his family and the sacrifice they made that day.

The Battle of the Bands will be fun for the whole family. Be sure to bring your bathing suits, beach chairs and plan for a day of great food, ice cream, fun and “live Music” at the Spring Lake Park in Boiling Spring Lakes, NC.

The music will start at 11:00AM and last until… Interested Bands should contact BSL Special Events Coordinator Michelle Hennessy at 910.367.9015. There is free entry for the Bands and first place will pay $400.00 with a second place winner receiving $100.00.

Tickets will be sold for $1.00 each or 6 Tickets for $5.00, to vote for your favorite Band. The ticket sales will help support the Scholarship as well.

Please plan to support this community event and help support this very important Scholarship. Everyone will benefit from this fun day on the lake and some local band will earn the coveted title of “Best Band” from the Boiling Spring Lakes Battle of the Bands 2016. Who knows, you might see them at a local venue, playing professionally or possibly a national stage somewhere in the future! It all starts at a local event for most musicians that then go on to make the “Big Time”!

So bring the family and have lots of fun for a great cause!
