There are some businesses you walk in and you feel right at home. The Cutting Edge is one of those places. Owner, Ginger Williams is one of those people who will make you feel good to be around. Always smiling and always positive! And a maestro with the scissors! Here is the story of The Cutting Edge Hair Salon.
Q: How long has the Cutting Edge been in business? Tell us how it came to be?
A: 27 yrs. ago I married my husband Rusty and moved to this area from Kentucky. The Cutting Edge has been in business for 24 years. A friend, Carol Spicer and I were working together for a few months when we decided to open a place of our own! Carol and I were previously individual shop owners before moving to Southport. Carol and I decided to join forces to open the Cutting Edge. After Carol lost her fight with cancer I became sole owner.
Q: Please explain what services you offer at The Cutting Edge?
A: At the cutting edge we offer all types of hair services from weekly sets, for our mature customers, to the new trendy cuts, coloring, foiling, smoothing or perming services! Our clientele ages are from 5 to 95! We even have a lovely 97 year old lady whom we have had the pleasure of setting and styling for several years. Our shop has been labeled a “Steel Magnolias” type of a shop! We love that, it means our customers are comfortable coming to us and they feel right at home. We enjoy meeting new customers as well as learning from our faithful ones.
Q: What is your personal specialty and can you tell us about your staff and what do they bring to The Cutting Edge?
A: I love coloring, cutting and making people feel good about themselves! Charlotte Williams, from New York, has been working with me for several years. Charlotte enjoys coloring, cutting and is top notch with setting and styling. Brooke Holden, From Southport, is also a great colorist and enjoys making her customers look great on those special occasions, like prom time and weddings. Between the three of us, we can take care of all of your families hair care needs.
Q: What other items do you sell in your shop?
A: We sell Scout bags, which are great for the beach, from coolers to beach bags we even carry wine and storage bags by Scout. We also carry a selection of jewelry for any occasion.
Q: Can you tell us what you have learned from being in business over the years?
A: We take pride in getting to know our customer’s needs. We are so fortunate to be able to call our customers our extended family! We enjoy hearing about our customer’s families, rejoicing with them in good times and crying and praying for them in the hard ones!
God has blessed us at The Cutting Edge with good family and friends!
