Q: Tell us about Magnolia’s. How did it get started and when?

A: My husband and I built our current business in 1998. Upon construction was a huge magnolia tree that unfortunately had to be cut down. Hence our former name Magnolia Gifts and Antiques. We shortened the name to Magnolias last year.

Q: What is your top selling item? Why do you think it is so popular?

A: Jewelry. We have a wild assortment of costume, sterling silver, designer and custom monogrammed pieces at good prices.

Q: What makes your store unique and how do you go about choosing your inventory?

A: Every item in the store has my imprint on it. It is an extension of me in the fact that everything is chosen by me. I seek out beautiful and unique thing that I feel my customers would like to own for themselves or give as gifts.

Q: Which 5 words best describe you?

A: Honest, Hardworking, Loyal, Creative and Caring

Q: Who inspires you?

A: My parents have always been my inspiration. They have been in retail for as long as I can remember. My father was a fashion designer and clothing manufacturer. My mother was equally creative. Many people may remember them as owners of Etcetera right here in Southport.

Q: What are you passionate about?

A: Living life to the fullest
