Historical Quilting

Southport Historical Society is teaming up with Brunswick Community College to create a quilt that will represent Southport’s history! The “Color Me Southport” quilt blocks will be based on local artist Patt Carney’s original illustrations of 30 of Southport’s iconic landmarks from her popular coloring books ColormeSouthport!Part One and Part Two.

If you love to quilt, or you’ve always wanted to try, this is a great volunteer opportunity for you. All supplies and instructions are included in the kits. Support is also available if you have questions or need a little help.

Put your unique touch on your block in the way you color the illustration and how you quilt it all together afterward (see the photos below for some fun and unique ideas).

Once all the quilt blocks are returned to the Historical Society, students in Brunswick Community College’s quilting class will join them all together to make a completed community quilt. The names of all participants will be listed on the back of the quilt.

Kits are available in the Southport Historical Society online store for a $10 donation. Visit the Southport Historical Society online at www.southporthistoricalsociety.org

Proceeds from this fundraiser will help support educational programs at Southport Historical Society and the Fiber Arts program at BCC. The final, completed quilt will be auctioned as a fundraiser at the 2022 Winterfest celebration.
