Oak Island Sunset Run

Oak Island has the perfect backdrop for doing anything outdoors, and the inaugural Oak Island Sunset Run/Walk on Aug. 25 takes full advantage of the island environment. The 10K even takes runners across wooden walkways that cross the canal and marshes. The Coastal Consumer Showcase earlier in the day highlights businesses in the community, and then the runners will start off at 5:30 pm. Everyone is invited to the food truck rodeo and concert after, with the band Parlay.

Distances: 5k, 10k and 1 Mile Fun Run.

Courses: All races will start at Middleton Park, 4610 E. Dolphin Dr., Oak Island. The 5K and 1 mile courses are flat. The 10K course is mostly flat and crosses two wooden walkways.

Fees: 10K – $50; 5K – $45; 1 Mile is free for children.

Swag: The first 400 participants will receive an OKI Sunset Run Beach Blanket.

3:30 PM – Packet Pickup & Registration Open
5:30 PM – 10K Starts
5:45 PM – 5K Starts
5:50 PM – 1 Mile Starts
6:00 PM – Live Music with the band Parlay, food, and a beautiful ocean sunset
